This non-accredited course provides the legal requirements, principles and practices of biocontainment to safely handle high hazard biological agents and biological materials in Containment Level 3 laboratories.

Duration
Full day (6 hours, excluding lunch break).
Delivery
Classroom delivery, in person attendance.
Delegates
For staff and post graduate students intending to work with high hazard biological agents and biological materials in Containment Level 3 laboratories. Also applicable to support staff involved in supporting CL3 laboratories (technical, maintenance, facilities).
Training is valid for 4 years, for refresher training, re-take this course.
Open to attendees from external organisations for a fee (see QMUL e-Shop) and complete External Organisation Non-Accredited H&S Training Request Form.
Summary Outcome / Content
The course will identify legal requirements, regulatory interactions and interventions, safety critical features, competency maintenance, emergency protocols, best / good operational laboratory practices, disinfection and waste inactivation, infrastructure requirements, safety management and processes applicable at Containment Level 3. The course presenter will provide short talks on the topics, which will be interspersed with small group ‘case study’ exercises. A certificate of completion is obtained by completing the course online knowledge quiz on CPD.
